QR codes for festivals, fairs and event tickets
On the day of a festival, everything changes at least once: a stage runs late, a vendor drops out, a storm moves the schedule. Printed signs cannot keep up. A code that opens a live page can.
This page explains what to link to, how big to print signs for a crowd, and what to do about patchy mobile signal in a field.
This is a dynamic QR code: $3 once, and you can change where it points at any time without reprinting. How that works
What should a festival QR code link to?
Give each placement one clear job:
| Where | Opens | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Entrance sign | Map and schedule | Most-asked question of the day |
| Stage banner | Today's line-up | Updates when sets run late |
| Vendor row | Food and vendor list | Spreads crowds |
| Parking and shuttle | Directions and times | Fewer stuck cars |
| Sponsor boards | Sponsor offers | Gives sponsors measurable scans |
How big should QR codes be on festival signs?
Crowds scan while standing a few steps away. Use the rule of one tenth: a code scanned from 2 m (6.5 ft) should be about 20 cm (8 inches) square, and one scanned from 4 m about 40 cm. Print on matte vinyl, mount at chest height, and keep poles and lights from covering it.
What if there is no mobile signal at the event?
Large crowds can overload networks. Keep the linked page small and mostly text, set up free Wi-Fi near the main stage if you can, and print the key times on the sign itself as a fallback.
Can I use QR codes on tickets?
A code on a ticket can open the schedule or the map, which is what we help with. ThreeDollarQRCode does not check people in or validate tickets. If you need entry scanning, use a ticketing system and put our code on the ticket's other side for information.

Questions
Can I change the schedule during the event?
Yes. Update the page, or change the address in your edit link. Every printed sign keeps working.
How many codes should I buy?
One per placement type is a good start, so your scan counts show which signs people use.
Do weather and rain affect the code?
Use weatherproof vinyl and keep the surface flat. Test after a wipe-down.
Can sponsors get their own code?
Yes, buy a separate one for each sponsor and give them the count from the order page.
What happens after the festival?
Point the codes at a thank-you page or next year's date.
Does it cost per scan?
No.
