QR codes for conferences, name badges and sessions
At a conference everybody meets dozens of people and remembers a few. A code on the name badge opens your contact page, portfolio or booking link, so the conversation can continue without typing anything.
Organisers can also use codes on signs to open the schedule, the room map and the feedback survey.
This is a dynamic QR code: $3 once, and you can change where it points at any time without reprinting. How that works
What should a name badge QR code open?
A short page you control. For an attendee, that could be a contact card, a LinkedIn profile, or a portfolio. For an organiser, a schedule page that you update during the day.
- One destination only, so scanners are not asked to choose.
- Put your name and company on the page so it is clear whose it is.
Is it better to print the QR code on the badge or on a separate card?
A code on the badge is always with you, but badges flip around. A code on a business card or sticker is easier to hand over. Many attendees do both.
If the badge hangs on a lanyard, keep the code at least 3 cm (1.2 inches) square near the top so it is visible when the badge twists.
How do exhibitors use QR codes on a booth?
A code on a booth banner or counter sign can open a demo request, a download, or a prize draw. Place it at eye level on the side that faces the aisle, and add a short line telling people what they get.
| Goal | Opens | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Get leads | A short contact form | Three fields at most |
| Share material | A product sheet or video | Keep it light for slow Wi-Fi |
| Feedback | A one-minute survey | Offer a small reason to answer |
Can QR codes help with feedback and surveys at the end of a session?
Yes. A code on the final slide and on a printed card at the door can open a survey. Leave the code on screen for at least 20 seconds and make it large enough to read from the back of the room.

Questions
Is it professional to put a QR code on a badge?
It is common at tech and trade events. Keep it small and tidy, and make sure the page it opens looks professional.
Can I change what my badge code opens after the event?
Yes. Point it at your newest page with the edit link.
Do attendees need a special app?
No, the phone camera is enough.
Does the code work from across a table?
At badge size, scanning works within about 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16 inches).
Can I track how many people scanned my code?
Yes, the order page shows a scan count.
What about privacy at a conference?
Only link to information you are happy for strangers to see.
