How to test a QR code before you print

A reprint costs far more than a test. Ten minutes of checking before a big print run saves most QR code disasters.

Use this checklist.

What should I check on the screen?

Scan the code on screen with your own phone and confirm it opens the right page. Check the page works on mobile data, not just Wi-Fi.

What should I check on the print?

Print one copy at the actual size, on the actual material if possible. Scan it with at least two phones, one iPhone and one Android, from the distance people will use.

What should I check about the link?

Open the link in a private browser window to see what a stranger sees. Make sure the page is public and loads quickly.

What if I may change it later?

Use a dynamic code, so a fix to the link does not need a reprint.
