QR codes for movers, moving boxes and inventories
A move is thousands of small decisions and a hundred boxes that all look the same. A QR code on each box label can open a list of what is inside, which room it goes to, and notes about fragile items, without writing it all out in marker.
For moving companies, the same trick works in reverse: a code on your truck or door hanger opens a quote request.
This is a dynamic QR code: $3 once, and you can change where it points at any time without reprinting. How that works
How do I label moving boxes with a QR code?
Print one code per box, or one per room. Each opens a short list or a photo of what is inside.
A spreadsheet or notes page that you update as you pack works. Use one dynamic code per room and add items as you go.
- Stick the label on the side of the box, not the top, so it shows when stacked.
- Use a large code, at least 3 cm (1.2 inches) square, on a light label.
- Also write the room name in marker. A phone may not be charged at the new house.
What should a moving company's QR code open?
A page with a quote form and your service area. Add a short note on how you charge (by the hour or by the job) and a few reviews.
| Placement | Opens | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Truck side or rear | Quote request | Only scannable when parked |
| Door hanger | Quote request | Leave in neighbourhoods you serve |
| Customer's box labels | Branded packing checklist | Gets your name inside the house |
Will a QR code survive a move?
Use a durable label and keep it dry. Test one on a box before you print a hundred. Scuffed or folded labels are hard to read, so place it on a flat panel.
