How to make a QR code for your contact details

The point of a business card is that the other person ends up with your details in their phone. A QR code that saves your contact does the last step for them.

There are two ways to do it, and they are not the same.

How do I make a QR code that saves a contact?

The classic way is a vCard code: the picture itself contains your name, number and email. It works without a web connection, but it cannot be edited afterwards, and long details make a dense, harder-to-scan pattern. Our free generator takes a single line of text, so it is not built for the multi-line vCard format.

What is the easier option?

Make a small web page with a clear "Save my contact" button, and point a dynamic code at it. The code stays simple and easy to scan, and you can change your number, role or company later without reprinting the cards.

Which is better for business cards?

For printed cards, the dynamic page is usually better because cards outlive jobs and phone numbers. For a one-off personal card that never changes, a vCard from a dedicated tool is fine.

Do iPhones and Androids save contacts from a code?

Many do for vCard codes. A page with a button works everywhere.

Can I include my photo?

Not in a vCard code. A web page can show a photo.

Cost?

$3 once per dynamic code.

Is my contact information public?

Anyone who scans the code sees it. Only include what you want to share.

Can I change my number later?

With a dynamic contact page, yes. With a vCard code, no.

Can I add social links?

A contact page can list them.
