QR codes for self-storage units, gates and move-out
Storage tenants rarely call the office, but they have questions: how do I pay, what are the gate hours, how do I move out. A code on the gate and each door answers them without staffing the counter.
Rules and prices change. The signs do not need to.
This is a dynamic QR code: $3 once, and you can change where it points at any time without reprinting. How that works
What should a storage QR code open?
Never put a tenant's private information on a public page.
| Placement | Opens |
|---|---|
| Gate | Hours, access instructions and office contact |
| Unit door | Pay rent (your payment page) and report a problem |
| Office | Rent a unit and a size guide |
| Move-out sign | Checklist and notice requirements |
Can a QR code be used for access or gate codes?
Do not put access codes or gate codes behind a public QR code. Anyone could scan it. Use your own secure tenant login.
Where do storage facilities use QR codes?
Perimeter signs, the office counter and the hallway signs. Keep outdoor codes UV-stable and 10 cm (4 inches) square for reading from a car.
Example signs
Each example code opens threedollarqrcode.com. Your code can open any page you choose.
