QR codes for churches, bulletins and welcome cards

A first-time visitor wants a few simple things: when the service starts, where to park, and whether there is something for their kids. A code on the welcome card or the sign by the door answers all three in one scan.

Church information changes all year: holiday schedules, volunteer drives, a new giving page. Because your code is dynamic, you print the cards once and update where they point whenever the plans change.

This is a dynamic QR code: $3 once, and you can change where it points at any time without reprinting. How that works

A welcome bulletin with a code that opens service times and giving.

What should a church QR code link to?

Link to one page that is easy to use on a phone: service times, a map, and links to children's programs and contact details. A single clear page works better than a link to a crowded home page.

Keep a separate code for each job, such as giving, volunteer sign-up, or prayer requests, so each one can be counted and changed on its own.

Can you put a QR code in a church bulletin?

Yes. A bulletin is one of the best places for a code, because people have it in their hands and time to read it. Print the code at least 2 cm (0.8 inch) square with white space around it.

Add a few words next to the code, such as "Scan for this week's events", so people know what they get.

How do you make a QR code for online giving?

Point the code at your giving page. Only use the web address your church or its payment provider gave you, and check the page on your own phone before you print.

If your giving provider ever changes, you can change where the code goes without reprinting every bulletin and card.

Questions

Do QR codes in a church look unprofessional?

No. Visitors and members already scan codes for menus and tickets, and a clear code with a short label looks organized rather than out of place.

How big should the code be on a church sign?

For a lobby sign people read from a few feet away, 10 cm (4 inches) square works. For a bulletin or card, 2 to 3 cm is enough. Scan your own print before you make hundreds.

What if our website changes?

Change the address your dynamic code points to using your private edit link. The printed code stays exactly the same.

Will older members be able to use it?

Some will, and some won't, so keep a short web address or a phone number printed beside the code as well.

Do we need an account?

No. You pay $3 once, get your code and a private edit link by email, and that's all.
