QR codes for wineries, wine labels and tasting rooms
A bottle sits on a shelf or table without anyone to tell its story. A small code on the neck tag or back label opens tasting notes, vineyard photos and pairing ideas, the things a sales person would say.
Vintages change every year. With a dynamic code you print one tag design and point each year's tags at the right page, or change the page when the next release comes out.
This is a dynamic QR code: $3 once, and you can change where it points at any time without reprinting. How that works
What should a wine QR code link to?
Tasting notes, the story of the vintage and a few food pairings are what buyers want. A wine club or mailing-list sign-up is the other valuable destination.
Keep the page light and quick. People scan a bottle in a shop, often with a weak signal.
- Use a different code for each wine only if you want separate scan counts.
- Check local rules for alcohol marketing before you add promotions.
Can you put a QR code on a wine label?
Yes, and many producers do. Put the code on a back label or neck tag on a matte, flat area, dark on light, at least 2 cm (0.8 inch) square. Avoid foil and heavy embossing, which cause reflections.
Print a test label and scan it on several phones before you order thousands.
Do QR codes work on curved bottles?
Mildly curved surfaces work if the code is small enough that the curve does not distort it, and the surface is not shiny. A flat neck tag or a hang tag is safer than a code wrapped around the bottle.

Questions
Can I reuse a label for the next vintage?
Yes. Change the page the code opens when the vintage changes, or use a new code for each year.
Does the code need an app?
No. Phone cameras read it.
Is a QR code good for gift bottles?
Yes, a tag with a personal message or a video can ride on the bottle.
What happens if my website moves?
Update the address in your edit link. Printed labels keep working.
Can I count scans per wine?
Yes, if you buy a separate code for each wine.
