QR codes for shop windows and counters
People walking past a shop often check the hours, the menu, or whether they can book before they go in. A window code gives them that answer from the sidewalk, and a counter code helps customers who are already inside.
Pay $3 for one code, point it at your hours and booking page, and update that page when your schedule changes. The printed code stays the same.
Window codes work from the sidewalk
People slow down at a window when they're deciding where to go. A code in the glass gives them a reason to stop, and it answers the question they were about to walk in to ask.
Treat the code like a poster. It should be readable in a glance, with a short label that says what it opens.
Placement inside and outside
Put the code on the inside of the glass, facing out, so the weather can't wear it down. Eye height for a standing adult is the spot that gets seen.
- Keep the code out of direct sun. A window that catches the afternoon light can wash it out, so a matte decal helps.
- Place a second code by the register for customers already inside, with a label such as 'Scan to order' or 'Leave a review.'
- Test the code after dark if it sits near a lit sign. Outdoor codes can lose contrast at night, so check it with your phone at the same time you'd expect people to scan.
Give people one clear action
A window code should do one thing. A page with today's hours at the top, a booking button, and the menu below is clearer than a page with several competing calls to action.
Update the hours for holidays before you forget. A code that opens an out-of-date page costs you a visit.
Fit the code to the storefront
The code shouldn't compete with your sign. Place it below the sign or beside the door, with a readable label, so the sign still says who you are and the code says what to do next.

Questions
Can a window decal be removed later?
Vinyl window decals peel off cleanly on most glass. The code's page stays online until you take it down, so remove the decal and keep or retire the page on purpose.
What if my hours or menu change often?
Point the code at a page you update, rather than a PDF. Then the code never needs reprinting when the menu changes.
Will the code scan at night?
Often not without good light. Test it after dark, and add a light source or a larger code if it doesn't scan reliably.
